About Me

Hello,

My name is Sam Johnston.

This site is designed to give greater detail on some of the projects I have been working on. On this site I will attempt to breakdown what I am building and my motivation for building it.  This will show where my interests lie and potentially assist others who are working on similar projects.

I have a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University. While at Cal Poly, I learned the importance of iterative design, strong documentation, and system debugging. Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” motto has been a fundamental part of my education. I have gained an appreciation for a hands on approach to learning. Diving into a problem allows me to gain a very deep understanding of how something works. Another key aspect of my education is debugging and testing. Many times a project just does not work as expected and while it may seem daunting at first, there is always a solution to be found. My education has taught me that by breaking the project into small components, I can fully understand how each component functions on its own. Once each component is understood, it can be integrated into the complete system design.
I am seeking a position that will allow me to utilize the skills I have acquired through my education and work on projects that allow me to continue to learn and grow.
